More Women on Corporate Boards: Germany Forcing its Companies to Achieve a Goal China Has Seemingly Reached Easily and Voluntarily.

Abgeschlossen

Kurzbeschreibung

Women are still largely underrepresented in management positions in the corporate sphere, particularly on corporate boards. Germany has implemented a “women´s quota” requiring at least 30 percent of women on corporate boards China does not have a “women´s quota” but has established initiatives to promote women and their skills in order to obtain a management position later on. I will compare China versus Germany regarding the presence of women on corporate boards. I plan to compare statistics regarding women on corporate boards in China versus Germany before and after the quota was introduced in Germany. Furthermore, I will conduct a questionnaire survey using the Schein Descriptive Index (SDI) in Germany and China regarding the existent perceptions about women, men and management positions.
