Kurzbeschreibung

The research project seeks to analyze the power relations and strategies that Alternative Food Networks (AFN), such as community kitchens/public fridges, community gardens/community-supported agriculture, and the Food Sharing Movement, employ for the consolidation of a “food citizenship”. The research also aims at studying the agency relationships that emerge during the practices of food preparation, communal eating, and food provisioning of the named AFN. Likewise, it seeks to show the local impact and the production of the space that these community initiatives have for the resolution of the material needs of its members; and in turn, the relations of inclusion and exclusion that emerge from them. Research question: Which are the community organizational strategies that allow for the transformation of the local food system regarding food preparation, communal eating and social provisioning for the constitution of a food citizenship? What kinds of inclusions and exclusions arise from the practices of communal eating, food preparation, and food provisioning practices?
